Mechanic (DIESEL):
Job Summary:
Odyssey Shankle Bus & Truck Repair is seeking highly motivated experienced Diesel Mechanic for immediate hire. This position is with a time-tested company that offers opportunity for growth.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role requires hands-on experience with engines, brake systems, suspension, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, brake service, tire rotation, etc.)
- Repair or replace diesel engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and exhaust systems
- Inspect vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and DOT inspections
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Test-drive vehicles to verify repairs and proper performance
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Communicate clearly with service advisors, customers, and team members
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Technical certification preferred)
- 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience (preferred)
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks, buses, trailers, or commercial fleet vehicles
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems
- Ability to use diagnostic software and repair tools
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather/shop conditions

Bus and Truck Parts Clerk/Driver:
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Parts Clerk/Driver to help with managing inventory of bus and truck parts, assist Parts Manager, mechanics, and customers, and perform local deliveries and pickups. This role supports efficient fleet maintenance by ensuring parts availability and timely distribution in a fast-paced automotive or transit environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive, inspect, store, and issue spare/replacement parts for buses, trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct cycle counts, and perform stock replenishment using computerized systems.
• Assist mechanics, service advisors, and counter customers by identifying and pulling correct parts using catalogs and databases.
• Process orders, invoices, warranty returns, and cores.
• Load/unload delivery trucks, stock shelves, and keep the parts area clean and organized.
• Drive company vehicle (van or light/medium truck) to deliver parts to shops, customers, or satellite locations; pick up incoming stock from vendors.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (e.g., fuel, oil, tire pressure) and ensure safe operation.
• Provide excellent customer service over the counter or phone, including quotes and order status updates.
• Handle shipping/receiving and occasional forklift operation (if certified).
Qualifications and Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; 1-2 years experience in automotive/heavy truck/bus parts preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of bus/truck parts (e.g., engines, brakes, transmissions) and ability to use parts catalogs is preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) a plus for heavier vehicles.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and stand for extended periods.
• Basic computer skills (inventory software, MS Office); moderate math and organizational abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain. (Not Required)

Class A/B Technician

extensive skills in diagnosing and repairing heavy vehicles quickly and accurately.
Responsibilities:
Vehicle Diagnosis & Repair: Efficiently diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on buses, trucks, and other large vehicles.
Preventative Maintenance: Conduct thorough inspections and perform preventative maintenance to ensure all vehicles operate safely and efficiently.
Technical Problem Solving: Use advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues swiftly.
Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document all maintenance and repair work, including diagnostics and corrective actions, to maintain detailed service records.
Customer Interaction: Communicate clearly with clients or team members regarding repairs, answering questions and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other technicians, parts staff, and service managers to ensure efficient workflow.
Qualifications:
Experience: At least 10 years of experience in bus and truck repair as a Class A or B Technician.
Licenses: Valid A/B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus.
Must have completed at least (3) ASE truck or bus certifications within the last 10 years
Must be able to do road calls and work independently
Must own a complete set of tools Per Odyssey required tool list” suitable for heavy vehicle repair.
Skills:
Extensive diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to solve issues quickly and accurately.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and technical manuals.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and computer systems for tracking work and repair documentation.
Strong organizational skills to complete and document all work orders accurately and on time.
